college graduation

Sunday, May 20th, 2007

I don’t really feel like writing, but it seems like I should given the events of the past few days. I’m finished with my bachelor’s degree now, and I’m joining the “real world” tomorrow when I start work at Garmin.
No exciting news to report on the house… they still haven’t done anything on it. [...]

semester-end update

Monday, January 15th, 2007

It’s been a couple months since I’ve posted any sort of an update on my life, so…. here goes:
I completed all of my fall-semester classes and received acceptable grades for them… kind of. I currently have two incomplete grades for the semester. One of them is from a year-long software engineering project class [...]

Monday, October 23rd, 2006

Dr. Hsu recently wrote an entry about the “user-driven sysadmin” and labeled me as one. It’s nice to see that your work is appreciated sometimes.

Internship Complete

Monday, August 14th, 2006

I finished my internship at Garmin in their marine division where I was working on a new chartplotter for the 2007 line. I thoroughly enjoyed my projects there, and the culture at Garmin is absolutely amazing.
I’d highly recommend an internship at Garmin to any exceptional undergraduate students (they’ll only take the best), and I [...]

safari time?

Tuesday, March 21st, 2006

I have a Beach Boys song stuck in my head — I can’t really say that I mind, but it’s strange. That’s all for now; I’m busy beating a SunBlade 1000 into submission… so far it’s winning.

Wednesday, March 1st, 2006

Some Garmin folks were in town for an information session at KSU tonight, and they took interns and new-hires for May out for dinner afterwards. After waiting for what seemed like forever (dinner was at 8:30, and I forgot to eat lunch), we were all ready to eat at 4 Olives. First, the [...]

Summer Internship: check.

Tuesday, January 24th, 2006

It looks like I’ll be interning in Olathe, KS at Garmin International for the summer. Hurray!
It’s not been determined which department and team I’ll be working on yet, but I should be starting the week after school gets out.

It Is Finished

Friday, December 16th, 2005

Another semester under the belt… wheeeeee. Rinse and repeat in the spring.
I just got off the phone from leaving a voice message for my HR contact at Jacobs. This call was to say, “Have a great life, you took too long.” since I’ll be leaving town for a week and a half, starting [...]

Jacobs: The Dance Continues

Wednesday, December 14th, 2005

Alright! Progress! After waiting a week since my last email (no reply), I sent another email to Jacobs today inquiring about cooping there next semester. This time I received a prompt reply. It appears that they found a project for a CS major, but the wording of the email is a little [...]

Jacobs, oh Jacobs

Monday, November 28th, 2005

As I wrote previously, I had spoken with someone from the Jacobs Engineering ESC Group about a co-op/internship experience in the spring. Offer letters were to be mailed out Nov 15th, and as of Nov 22nd I had heard nothing. Knowing that they had been fairly late to respond last time, I didn’t [...]
