I’m taking Geology 102 (Earth Through Time) from Dr. Allen Archer this semester, and he has a policy that any cell phone ringing during class results in a pop quiz for everybody. At least in theory, the peer pressure should be enough to keep any sane person from leaving their ringer on when they walk in the room.
The inevitable happened the other day: someone forgot and in the middle of class we got to hear a tin-can rendition of an already horrible pop song. Wonderful. Pop quiz time! The quiz was simple, so I didn’t mind, and I really got a laugh out of the whole situation. And I laughed even harder when I saw the grades posted today. The category for the quiz? Extra credit.
Maybe I should arrange to have some friends call me in there if my grade starts dipping too low.
I am so calling you every class period from now on…
