This weekend turned out to be a really great time. Friday afternoon my dad came through town on his way back from a work appointment, and we (my brother, dad, and I) got to have some supper at Famous Dave’s. Saturday morning/afternoon our church had hired a sound guru to come evaluate our system and recommend improvements that can be made to better serve everybody that uses our building. I got to play electric guitar for a song or two since our normal player couldn’t make it. That was the first time I’ve been able to play electric with a “band” in a couple years, so it was a great time.
I left Manhattan right after that guy’s afternoon session was over and headed to Hays to hook up with Ben & Mandy. We were having a movie night with a few others starting around 7:00 but I made it early and got to spend some time alone with those two and get a tour of her new apartment. Eventually people started showing up, and we had most of our good friends from high school back. We ended up playing some taboo, watching a movie, and stuffing our faces. The hummus was righteous, man.
Sunday morning, Ben and I went to church while Mandy had to work, then the three of us went swimming at the Holiday Inn. Originally we were going to have some more people come over for swimming, but Mandy’s boss told her she couldn’t bring more than a couple friends, so…. suck. Mandy ended up getting injured going down the slide when she & I had some communication problems, so the rest of the afternoon she stayed in her apartment. I went to Ellis to visit my mom for a couple hours and talked her into fixing some enchiladas for me… yum. Later that night I went back to Hays and ended up spending the night there unexpectedly. Ben, Mandy, and I were watching a movie and when we looked at the clock it was already midnight:30. I decided it wasn’t worth it to leave that late, so I got some sleep and headed back to Manhattan at 9:00 on Monday morning.
Anyway.. this is kind of a quick post (sorry if there are spelling/grammar errors), but I wanted to get everything down before the business of the week took away my opportunity to blog. Check out the photos of our “party” at Mandy’s in my Photo Gallery.
