About

Here you'll find updates on big events in my life as well as photos, a calendar, and my resume.

Well, spring break came… and spring break went. It wasn’t all that exciting since I stayed in Manhattan and worked the whole time, but having the week off from classes was a nice change from the monotony of the last 2 months.

Friday afternoon I took off for Hays with my brother. Once we got there, we had supper with my mom and grammy at Applebees. Eating meat in front of Catholics on Fridays during lent is always interesting for me. I guess I feel a little guilty doing it, but as long is I’m not causing them to stumble it’s all good.

After supper I headed to Pizza Hut to meet with my best friend from high school. We had a great time catching up on everything going on in each other’s lives and eventually ended up at Wal*Mart walking around aimlessly. He’s getting married in August, so I printed out their registry for gifts and tried to track everything down. I’m not entirely sure what I’m going to get them, but I want it to be something nice. Ben was probably the biggest influence during 8th & 9th grades that led to my relationship with Jesus, and I am forever indebted to him for that. :)

Saturday we did the easter thing with my mom (supper and talking) while trying to fix her computer. She managed to get Windows to the point that it wouldn’t even boot in safe mode. Through a “repair” (aka, a full install on top of an existing install… heh) we were able to get her computer booting again, but neither Matt nor I felt confident that it was really fixed. We backed up the important data and put a completely clean copy of Windows on for her. I’d really like to see her use linux on that laptop, but the lack of an easy-to-use personal accounting software is a show stopper. I’ll be recommending that she get an Apple for her next laptop. I’m still enamored with mine after a year.

Saturday night we went to an easter vigil mass at the Catholic campus center in Hays. It was, by far, the best Catholic mass I’ve attended. It had an adult baptism, preaching about the blood of Jesus, and everything a Baptist kid could hope for. ;)

After church on Saturday we drove to do the easter thing with my dad. W had a good discussion about theology on the way there. I’m always up for that kind of talk, and I was able to gain some new views on Catholic church through talking with Matt. Good stuff…

Sunday morning we went to church… I actually didn’t like this service as much as the one the night before. That surprised my quite a bit, but I think the main reason I didn’t like church on Sunday morning is that it was 75% music accompanied by a weak sermon. Most of the music was soloist type stuff… I guess I felt like a spectator throughout the service — not like I was a part of it. Maybe I’m spoiled by being ~part~ of the worship team every, but I don’t think that’s it… I just love seeing a church full of people worshipping God through song, and the fantastic sermons that I’m used to are great too…

I got to stop by some friends’ house in Ellsworth on Sunday evening and get caught up with everything new in their lives. I wish I had more weekends that I headed out that way and got to see them, but it always ends up being a big production when I head to my parents’ so I don’t know what else I’d do on a trip out west.

Anyway… this week is going to be a real joy. I have 3 exams and a couple homework assignments on top of that. Throwing work and various church activities on top of that should ensure that I don’t have any time to stop and think about how swamped I am. That’s probably a good thing…

God bless.
