Here you'll find updates on big events in my life as well as photos, a calendar, and my resume.

must…. stop…. wasting… money. :)

Last night I purchased a iTrip Mini with 2-day shipping with hopes that it will get here by the time we leave for Colorado next week. I probably could have picked up a generic FM broadcaster on the cheap, but the iTrip is handy since it can suck power from the iPod and thus requires no batteries which will need replaced — cheaper in the long run, I suppose. Yeah… I think I’ll rationalize this until I convince myself that I had no other choice really but to make this purchase :)

Tonight I picked up a power inverter (converts the DC from the cigarette outlet into AC like in a house…) so that I can plug in my iBook/iPod/iWhatEver on the go. The car adapter for the iPod would have been something like $30 or $40. The inverter I got which has two outlets & more than enough power to run two laptops was only $45…. It was the only logical decision :) The only downside is that it’s a sizable brick and will have the bulk of extra power adapters for whatever devices are plugged in.

My mom came this afternoon since she’s on vacation this whole week. I found it slightly humorous that the week she picks to come is the one where I was visiting her the weekend before AND after… ah well, I guses I should be happy I got a couple free meals out of the deal :) Her coming gave the motivation I’ve been needing for a while to get my room/closet cleaned up. When I moved in, I was able to fit everything (barely) in my closet, but since that time I have been accumulating more and more “junk”. Quickly it got to the point that I just left my closet doors open since the boxes hung out past the line where the doors would have been…. It was that way for a few months, and today when I finally put some of the stuff in a hall closet I discovered that my room looks really odd with the closet doors shut….. now they’re open proudly showing off my “clean” closet. :) Hurrah!

I also was able to finish retagging all of my music to include track numbers, album names, and genres. Hopefully it will facilitate easier navigation on the iPod…. I also got to reconvert several .ogg files to .mp3 that was a joy since all of the conversion utilities I found in the portage tree were converting mp3 (non-free) to ogg (free) and not the other way around. I did track down a plugin and page explaining how to get iTunes to recognize oggs… worked beautifully.
