Eh, nothing very exciting to write about, but it’s been a while, so I thought I’d give it a go.
Christmas ended up being a decent holiday experience all around. I headed off to Hays on the 23rd and took the opportunity to hang out with Ben for a little while. The 24th was the Christmas celebration at my mom’s house. We opened gifts that evening and then attended “Midnight” mass at the Catholic church where my mom is/was the music director. I don’t think I’ve felt that out-of-place at a church in a long time…… The last several times I’d been to a Catholic church I was playing timpani for my mom, so I wasn’t sitting out in the congregation… didn’t kneel, didn’t feel like the oddball skipping communion, etc… This time I didn’t have the privelage of being in my own little word behind the drums.
The morning of the 25th Matt and I headed off for Christmas with Dad. We had a nice lunch, watched Return of the King for the second time in as many days, and played some “Catch Phrase” with a couple friends. We spent the night there and ended up missing church on Sunday morning since we hadn’t packed any extra dress clothes (the ones from Christmas Eve church were all wadded up in a plastic bag). Matt and I drove home that afternoon…. and the holiday came to a close.
When I got back, I found a tentative schedule for worship teams waiting in my inbox. It looks like I’ll be on pretty much every other weekend unless Ben wants me to play with him… then it could be pretty much every week. It feels like it has been forever since I’ve been able to help with worship at Grace.
In other news — my iPod Mini arrived today. When I ordered it last Thursday I forgot to change my address from the last time I ordered from Apple, so it got shipped to my dorm from last year… oops. Luckily, since the dorms are closed over break they didn’t even try to deliver it today. I wasn’t completely sure they would let me pick it up since I have a different address on my driver’s license than the one it was shipped to, but it didn’t turn out to be a problem at all….
So yeah, I’m set for the ski trip next week: my brother and I reserved skis tonight and we already have lift tickets and lodging taken care of. I had the Jeep in the shop yesterday and got some new rear brakes… hopefully that will be the last work it needs done in a while. I feel like I’ve been spending far too much money on it recently.
Eh, I’m out for now… I could go for some excitement in my life right around now.
